Lake Erie Grape Discovery Center Opens

A symbol of the great lakes grape growing region is open to the public and ready for business. The new Grape Discovery Center in Westfield, New York, had its grand opening. Our grape region extends from Silver Creek to Harborcreek, and the new center is bringing attention to the industry. The Concord Grape Belt Heritage Association wanted a visitor center to bring the community together to learn about the area. The decade of brainstorming is complete, and the building is open.

The center had a soft opening May 25th, but today was the grand opening with a ribbon cutting. The original grant was more than a million dollars and donors have chipped in since then. The building includes a spacious floor plan with a gift shop with all things wine and grapes. There is a tasting room for wine and concord grape juice. The exhibit room was just finished two weeks ago. It's interactive and will walk you through 150 years of grape growing and all that it entails.

The location is in the geographic heart of the grape belt, in the midst of a vineyard. The center is meant to support and promote the grape industry, bringing in tourists and locals to explore the heritage. The area is the largest in the World for Concord grapes and there are over 30,000 acres.
